TAM, the week-long MWF

Thanks for your prayers for Susie and I.  TAM went exceedingly well.  I re-read my prayer request, and it could have been understood to mean that between Susie and I we would tend the prayer room 24/7.  There were actually 130 of us to do that.  The results were encouraging: RichDrama.com/NewsBlog.
In Christ alone,
Rich

Begin forwarded message:

Susie Brown and I are teaching at a week-long theatre (and other performance arts) conservatory for the Salvation Army (theTAMjam.com). We're signing up so that every hour that we're here (24/7) is covered in prayer. I have great expectations that the Lord is going to do some really cool things while we're here. Appreciate your prayers to that end!

DVD & picture

From: "John Langlois"

We still do not have the DVDs of the final concerts (including the play)
they will be up as soon as I get them - I am reluctant to put the order on
the site until I know if it is one or two DVDs.
But watch this site:
http://www.joymediacreations.com/mwf.html
For future ref. You can get to it from the Festival Info page on the
MasterWorks website.
Re the Christa's pictures we have had several inquires for them but to my
knowledge they are not available yet.
The office basically has a skeleton staff at present as all the interns have
gone the new interns have not come yet, the staff are on holiday and those
who are returning are going to be on a stiff learning curve as Elena and
Jennifer Peck are leaving! We crave your patience :-)
Bless you,
John

influence

My youth pastor just shared with me that our youth group is the
reason he's still in ministry today. It blew me away! Of the 20
youth we had at any given time over the four years he was in our
church 14 were in or headed toward full or part-time ministry. I
always knew what a tremendous impact he had on us, but never thought
about the influence we had upon him and his wife. As I reflected on
it I realized how much I've been influenced by MasterWorks students
over the years. Thank you for that.

You never know what impressions your making on a person's soul.

Wow. What you said Jess, was amazing. I totally understand how everything
hasn't felt the same since MasterWorks. I feel like my praising isn't as
filling as it was before. My church isnt' charismatic at all, so it's been a
change.
Before I came to MasterWorks, I just figured on going to L.A. and doing
everything the way I wanted it done. I wouln't let anything stand in my way,
and i'd live a totally free and careless life. But once I came to
MasterWorks, everything changed. Like I said in my mission statement (haha,
that didn't go very far did it?), I can't imagine living in L.A. without
God. I realized that HE opened the doors for me, HE made everything
possible, and to go and live like there is no God would a slap in the face
to Him. I will say that I'm sure that i'll goof and not do everything as I
should, but I can really say that MW really turned me around for the better,
and I am SO THANKFUL. And all of you guys' helped in that, so thank you.
alot.
We can change the world of arts through us, I know it!
I love and miss you all!

Re: Epistles

Jessica,
You are changing the world. Keep up the good work, each of you. Here's the next verse in I Thessalonians 2:

13 And for this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when ye received from us the word of the message, [even the word] of God, ye accepted [it] not [as] the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also worketh in you that believe. (ASV)

Hello Everyone!

I just want to say that all I have thought about today is how much I miss everyone! During praise and worship in church today, I realized (as others of you have said) it wasn't as freeing as Masterworks had been. I felt, however, that I was able to get into the music more than I did before Masterworks happened (if that makes any sense).
Just some exciting news in my life: Because of Masterworks, I have been more enthusiastic about my faith then ever. Before Masterworks, I felt that I couldn't forgive myself for being a sinner, and that God couldn't possibly forgive me either. After spending time with all of you and seeing Christ's love through you all, I see that I was wrong. I hope it is an encouragement to know that I see Christ genuinely living through you all. I pray that He continues to do so.
We can change the world! Just keep that in mind.....

...Celebrating Our 15 Year Anniversary of Equipping and Encouraging Christians in Theatre Arts!

Epistles

While reading from 1 Thessalonians it occurred to me that Brandon's proposal is a bit Pauline. In other words Paul went out and formed a bunch of churches, which could have whithered in his absence. Instead they flourished (well some of them did) because he watered the seeds that he planted through his epistles. You guys are immensely better equipped than Paul with email and chat rooms to remind each other of how to apply biblical truths and Truth to theatre.

I'm leaving town today for a whole month (RichDrama.com/Itinerary), so I'm afraid I can't promise much input during that time. I hope you'll take up Brandon's challenge and let each other know what discoveries you're making.

1 Thessalonians 2:11 as ye know how we [dealt with] each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging [you], and testifying, 12 to the end that ye should walk worthily of God, who calleth you into his own kingdom and glory. Hey guys,
So I'm sitting here in the coffee shop of the country's largest book store here in Portland, and I'm debating whether or not I should issue this challenge that's been rattling around in my head. Then I log on to my email and figure "What the heck?"
This is something that I've been thinking about for the past year and a half, and what I'm about to write is (try not to laugh) the culmination of a lot of thought. As most, if not all, of us are pursuing a future in theatre, and as we know that this isn't exactly a Christian environment. I've been asking myself for a while now how I can actively be involved in the theatre world while still staying plugged in to a Christian community when the two schedules don't exactly complement each other. So, since I'm not able to be my usual verbose self, I'll get to the point and tell you my challenge: Every Monday (the usual theater dark day) we should all dedicate some time to studying/practicing/discussing our art form of theatre in some way and then spend some time meditating on where the Lord sits in this. Example: For the next few weeks, I'm going to start off by reading/writing some plays and then whatever subject I encounter, I'm going to stop and see what the Bible has to say about it. Something along those lines. And here's the important part: whether through AIM, phone, or in person, this must be something shared with one or more other people. This is not to say that we shouldn't be doing this all during the week, but rather to say if nothing else, we have Mondays! What do you guys think? Any thoughts? Suggestions? Need for clarification? Discuss away!
Blessings,
Brandon
Hello Everyone!

It feels weird now not to wake up every morning and have a full blown time of worship as well as vocal warm-ups. I'm pretty sure Rex's "mah's" still echo in my ear each morning at nine! All this to say, I miss all of you very much! I hope that we will all be able to keep in touch! Just know that I will be praying for each and every one of you; I know God is going to do GREAT things in your lives! I know He has already spoke through you to me! God bless you all!

I would just like to say that the first chapter of Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, references King Oberon of fairyland!  It made me happy to read that.

Congratulations!

Sarah,
This is wonderful news! Patricia and I prayed for you over lunch. I
was thrilled to hear that after your prayer with her your sore throat
was GONE!

You have no reason to be intimidated. You are equipped. Blessings
on you, and may you bless the cast richly. Be sure to send
performance info, though, if it doesn't extend into September I'm
afraid I'll still be in Toronto.
