5.5hr turnaround

Because of the beautiful ice and snow in Lexington, my flight was canceled. I didn't get into JFK until after 10pm, and in order to catch my 7:31am flight to Indiana this morning I had to get up early enough that I needed to set multiple alarms. One of them is an application on my Treo in which I can punch in the wake-up time and it will start counting down. It told me, rather bluntly, that I had less than 5.5 hours to sleep. Pray for coherance and stamina at my department head meeting for the MasterWorks Festival tomorrow.

LA Times featured CITA

I just had lunch with Wayne Harrel in Portland, OR. He told me that the LA Times wrote an article on last year's Christians in Theatre Arts National Conference: Christianity playing a role in theatre.

I taught a workshop there on sociodrama and that's also where I recruited last year's stage manager for MasterWorks.

Hey Rich,

Thank you so much for this message. I have been going through some
really rough times in the past month, and this message brought tears
to my eyes, but also hope. I can't even comprehend what amazing things
God will do in my life, and there's no way I'm going to spend life
splashing around in the waves when God has so much more for me. This
message was a great encouragement to me in these hard times, and I'm
sure it has been to many. Thank you for being a Paul, encouraging
God's people in love.

Report from the Ringlebs

Dear Family and Friends,

On December 18 Walter suffered a brain hemorrhage at about 1.15 pm. However, he or I did not know this at the time. I was flying and in Miami Airport on a short layover of 2 hours before continuing on to Philadelphia.

Let me begin at the beginning: Walter had just finished with a customer in his shop. Pam was walking out the door. A massive burst of pressure hit Walter's head from one side to the other. He ate some food which did not help. The pressure in the brain was becoming so great that he knew if he did not act he would not be able to function. He unlocked the front door then proceeded to call 911. He layed down in the living room with our dog Dieter who would not leave his side. The paramedics came at 3pm and took him to a Grapevine Baylor Hospital, much to the displeasure of our dog Dieter. As they were wheeling him out he was calling our neighbor to take care of Dieter on his cell.

At the hospital Walter left 2 messages for me and called a friend Daryl. What would we do without our cells phones?  I was removed from my trip in Miami that evening and took the 9.20 pm flight home from Miami. All of this happened in about 20 to 30 minutes. In the mean time I was calling family and friends to pray for Walter. I did talk to Walter, but he was a little confused, but told me the doctor said he had a hemorrhage in the brain and was being transported to Zale Lipshy Hospital in Dallas. This is the best place for him, unknown to me Lipshy is world renown for neurological disorders. At Grapevine Baylor Hospital Susan Daryl 'wife and a F/A friend Nuris were with Walter before he was transported to Dallas. At midnight I arrived at DFW and drove down to Dallas. Daryl and Susan were with Walter at Lipshy in the ICU. When I arrived in the ICU Walter was completely hooked up to all the life support machines (for the brain). He was breathing completely on his own. Doctor William "Chip" Scott had placed a tube in his head to drain out the fluid and blood. (8 ½ inches in the brain) Blood had been pooling at the base of the brain with nowhere to go. He had a clogged drain at the base of the brain. In the wee hours of the morning the nurse told me this is very very serious and if I believed in prayer to pray. A tiny, tiny cluster of blood vessels had ruptured around or near the L eye. However, the cause was unknown at this time because too much blood was in the brain and it became a waiting game. All our modern marvels of tech equipment gave cloudy and unclear pictures because of the blood in the brain (but clear pictures as the blood dissolved). On December 30 Walter left Lipshy around 7.30.pm.

At Lipshy the doctors work as a team and consult with each other as to the treatment of each patient. Walter had a group of 6 men and women. It is very humbling watching these doctors treat your husband. They are true heroes who showed me great, great kindness. I will never forget them or the nurses.

The Lord God gave us a miracle. In a life threating situation, the spirit of death looming, Jesus Christ gave the gift of life to Walter. We have no words to express our thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. Bowing our heads and hearts in thanksgiving to all of you and to The Lord God Almighty. Words seems so empty, because this event of our lives was beyond our control. The intangible can not be spoken or written.
Thank you for standing with us.

As for the next chapter, Walter will be going to the clinic for further testing and scans. We believe that Walter will be completely restored. He never lost his sence of humor throughout this entire ordeal.

We love you and thank you,
Bonnie and Walter Ringleb

Alumni section of website

Dr. Kavanaugh just asked me to report on what you folks are up to out
there, so someone from the team may be contacting you soon to help
fill up their new alumni page on the website.

I know there are some of you out there doing cool theatrical things
that I don't know about, so this is a great opportunity to get us all
up to speed.

Please report if you're in grad school for any of the performing arts,
if you're auditioning for professional plays, and if you're landing
roles in professional plays. Also let us know if you're involved in
theatre at any level.

Let's pray for each other as the reports come in!

in Christ alone,
Rich
